Living with advanced MS
Advanced MS
Advanced multiple sclerosis (AMS) describes severe burden or disabilities caused by MS, requiring complex care. Here are some ideas to help you and your carers get the support you need.
Information for carers
Many family members and friends of someone with MS may find that they are taking on some aspect of care. Read about the support available to carers in the UK.
NHS continuing healthcare
NHS continuing healthcare is health and social care that is arranged and paid for solely by the NHS and delivered at your home or in a residential setting. It is available if you live in England and are assessed as having long-term complex health needs.
Respite care
Respite care is short-term, temporary support that allows people with multiple sclerosis (MS), and the family members or carers who look after them, to have a break and a little time to themselves.
Advance care planning
Advance care planning (ACP) is the process of thinking, and having conversations, about the care you would like in the future if your health were to change.
My MS expert
Our new interactive video experience helps you learn about advance care planning, including who to involve and when to start thinking ahead in MS.
How Advanced MS Champions will make a difference
The MS Trust has launched a programme to pioneer a new role in MS services: Advanced MS Champions. But what difference will these champions make to people living with advanced MS?
