Fundraising for the MS Trust

We understand that fundraising can sometimes be just as much of a challenge as the event itself, but our dedicated fundraising team will be there to support you every step of the way. We will be there to get you started with our brilliant fundraising pack and will be in regular contact with support, advice and ideas.

We recommend that our fundraisers use Just Giving to collect sponsorship online. It is quick to set up and you can easily share your page with friends, family, and colleagues to reach your fundraising goals. Plus, everything is seamless. The money you raise, as well as Gift Aid, is sent straight to us as the MS Trust so that's one less thing to worry about! Frequently asked questions

Are there any age, weight or height restrictions?

Yes, participants taking part in a wing walk must be:

  • Between eighteen and eighty years of age.
  • Between five and six feet tall (1.52-1.83m)
  • A maximum weight of thirteen stone and four pounds (85kg) at Kent aerodrome or fourteen stone (89kg) at Gloucestershire airfield.
Can I take part if I have MS?

Yes, however, your ability to participate will depend largely on your mobility. All participants MUST be able to climb unassisted to the top of the aircraft. You will also be required to fill out a medical self-declaration form on the day of your flight. If you have any concerns about your MS affecting your ability to take part, we advise that you first consult with your GP.

Is there a fundraising minimum?

When you select the fundraising funding option you agree to raise the minimum of £1000 per person in sponsorship for the MS Trust. 100% of the minimum sponsorship required must be sent to the MS Trust no later than eight weeks prior to the challenge. The MS Trust is then invoiced for the £450 cost per person. This means that the MS Trust receives a minimum of £550 per person after costs.

Can I bring spectators?

Yes – spectators are welcome. There is a viewing area for anyone who comes along with you on the day to watch your Wing Walk. Please mention when making your booking if you plan to have more than ten spectators.

What should I wear?

You are advised to wear a couple of layers of close-fitting comfortable clothing with flat-soled laced up footwear. Earplugs and goggles will be provided for your Wing Walk. Jewellery must be removed.

How long will I be in the air?

Your flight will last around ten minutes. Please allow for a minimum of two hours between your briefing and completing your Wing Walk.

Do I need insurance?

The centre holds public liability insurance. You will not be liable for damage to the equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

What if the weather is bad on the day of the wing walk?

The Wing Walk is weather dependent. If conditions are not safe or suitable for the Wing Walk to go ahead, it will be rescheduled to another date. It is therefore recommended that you do NOT book and pay for travel and accommodation in advance, where possible.
