Nawal Ibrahim talks about how volunteering has become so impactful for her
Nawal's volunteering story

It’s emotional work, but it’s deeply rewarding. I feel proud to be someone others can lean on.
My Volunteering Experience with MS Trust:
I first began volunteering with the MS Trust three years ago, in 2022, helping to review some written materials. At the time, I didn’t realise just how deeply connected I would become to this work or how meaningful it would be to play a part, however small, in supporting others in the MS community.
About a year ago, I started signposting on the MS Trust Facebook group. What began as a small gesture, answering the occasional question, soon became something much greater. I found myself returning regularly, drawn by the chance to help people find clarity, comfort, and hope during what can often be a very overwhelming and uncertain time.
Living with MS myself, I know how heavy the weight of uncertainty can be. Every message I respond to, every bit of advice or encouragement I offer, is given with the understanding that behind each question is a real person just trying to make sense of life with MS just like I once was. It’s emotional work, but it’s deeply rewarding. I feel proud to be someone others can lean on.
Volunteering with the MS Trust has given me a sense of purpose and connection. It’s a role I carry with great pride, knowing that even small acts of support can make a real difference to someone else’s journey. I may not have all the answers, but being able to listen, guide, and offer empathy; that means everything to me.
