MS Trust Grant Awards Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions

  • Research grant funds must be used specifically for the designated purpose(s) as laid out in your grant application form.
  • Short term grants of up to one year duration will be paid in full at the start of the project. Work must be concluded by one calendar year from the date of grant acceptance or by the date given in your application if different from this.
  • Longer term grants (up to three years) will be paid annually upon review of an annual project progress report as requested by MS Trust using our standard reporting forms.
  • Grant payment will be made once all research governance procedures have been completed, the project is approved by your institution and is ready to start. Payments will be made within 28 days of grant acceptance date (one-year or first year) and/or receipt of progress report (multi-year grants).
  • Where amendments are requested and agreed (e.g. due to circumstances like staff illness or other unforeseen events), fresh terms may be negotiated where appropriate.
  • Any grant funds that have not been used for, or committed to, the Project upon expiration or termination of the Agreement must be returned promptly to MS Trust.

During the study

  • MS Trust will request a brief report on the expenditure of the grant annually for three year or longer-term studies. If the study duration is one year or less, this will form part of the final report. The grant expenditure report can generally be provided by your institution’s research accounts department.
  • MS Trust will not publicly disclose confidential or commercially sensitive information about the work the grant has been awarded for. However, we may request occasional general updates suitable for sharing with the wider MS community through our communications (newsletters, website, social media, etc). We will also include an update in the MS Trust Trustees annual report and within our Impact report. We will require a lay summary in the annual and final reports to aid this.
  • We would like to inform our donors and beneficiaries of any significant events in our funded research. Your cooperation in providing a brief notification on events such as awards, scientific or clinical publications accepted, or significant milestones reached will be greatly appreciated.
  • You may be invited to participate in MS Trust education and events, and we appreciate your involvement to promote our collaboration.
  • Please acknowledge your MS Trust Grant in your publications or conference presentations.
