Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an indiscriminate disease that may affect anyone. The MS Trust is committed to be being an equitable, diverse and inclusive (EDI) organisation. The MS Trust recognises we have a duty to ensure our services are relevant and accessible to all. We strive to be an inclusive organisation, and recognise that people with different backgrounds, cultures, skills and experiences bring new understandings and perspectives that benefit people with MS. Everyone that comes into contact with the MS Trust should feel like they belong, and have their own valuable and unique perspective to bring to our work. We will treat everyone with dignity and respect, and recognise that lots of aspects of their identity make them who they are.
Over the last few years, we have taken steps to integrate EDI into our work and processes as a charity, including:
- Setting up a working group dedicated to EDI, with stakeholders from each of the departments across the charity.
- A schedule of formal and informal training and workshops to support staff.
- Revising our recruitment policy and procedures.
- Internal measures to raise cultural awareness within the workforce.
We continue to build stronger relationships within the MS community to ensure that we are hearing voices from a range of experiences.
While we understand there is still much work to do in this area, we continue to work with and listen to our community to ensure that we drive positive change.
