Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a minimum age for participants?

The minimum age for competitors is 18.

Can I run with headphones?

You are allowed to wear any headphones on the course, they suggest bone conducting headphones (and have a discount code for Shokz) but they just ask you keep volume to a minimum so that you can hear any instructions, emergency vehicles etc.

Is there a bag drop at the Yorkshire Marathon?

Participants are advised to use the designated Baggage Store located in the Event Village, in Campus South which will be open from 07:00.

You can retrieve your baggage from the same store after your run.

Please note that all bags must be the equivalent size to a small rucksack or small sports bag and security will be in place in order to conduct random bag searches. Any luggage type larger than the size of a small rucksack will not be accepted.

After the race, you are advised to make your way to the Baggage Store to reclaim your property before meeting up with your loved ones. Please collect your bags as soon as possible so that you can avoid the queues.

Accessibility Information

Please read the information below about taking part if you have a disability and/or require assistance on event day.

Wheelchair users and support runners

The event organisers, Run For All encourage people of all abilities to take part. If you are a wheelchair user, please ensure you enter this information when prompted on your registration.

If you are to be aided around the course, either by being pushed or assisted, by a guide runner, your guide runner must also be a registered participant in the event. Please get in touch with the fundraising team at fundraising@mstrust.org.uk or call on 01462 536007 before registration so that we can ensure you will be registered correctly with your support runner.

It is strongly recommended that only experienced wheelchair racers attempt the courses unaided.

Cut off time

The cut off time for the Yorkshire Marathon is 7 hours. It would take the average person between 7 and 9 hours to walk a Marathon distance, giving you time for walk breaks during the race. You may be able to continue to run on the road past the times stated. However, once our sweeper vehicle passes you, you will be kindly asked to move onto the pavement (if it is safe to do so) until you reach the finish straight. A marathon is a significant challenge and it is advised that you should be comfortable with running long distances before signing up. If you have any questions or concerns, please do get in touch with the fundraising team at fundraising@mstrust.org.uk or call on 01462 536007
