Planning your own fundraising

By deciding to fundraise for the MS Trust, you have taken the first steps to helping the MS Trust support someone with MS.
There are so many ways you can raise funds and help us support people living with MS. Hold a pub quiz or street collection, sell cakes or even grow a beard!
We will be here to support you every step of the way.
Getting started with your fundraising
Fundraising can be hard work....but VERY rewarding! Use our guide below to plan your event.
Decide what you're going to do
Think about what you enjoy doing. Are you a star baker? A great party planner? Or a pub quizzer?
Turn your passion into a fundraising activity and do it YOUR way for people with MS.
Once you've decided on your fundraising idea, let us know so we can help you make it happen.
You can contact our fundraising team by telephone 01462 476 707 or by email at fundraising@mstrust.org.uk

Set up your online fundraising page
It's time to setup your JustGiving fundraising page and start raising money for the MS Trust.
It really pays to spend some time personalising your page with a message about what you're doing and why. Don't forget to include a photo of you in your MS Trust T-Shirt!
Call the Fundraising Team on 01462 476707 or email fundraising@mstrust.org.uk if you would like help with this.

Maximise your fundraising potential
1. Have fun!
You’re always better at something you enjoy. Are you sporty? Creative? The world’s best party planner? Use your natural talents to raise money and have a blast!
2. Tell your friends what their money could do
Take a look and let your friends and family know exactly how their support will make a difference.
3. Build the hype!
Shout about what you’re doing!
Use social media to your advantage - videos get much more attention than just text. Don’t forget local press, posters and updating your email signatures are all great ways to spread the word.
4. Top sponsor first
Does a friend still owe you £50 for dinner the other night? Ask them to donate to your fundraising page instead. A generous first sponsor like this will set the pattern for future donations.
5. Ask your employer
Many companies really love to support charities; this can be as easy as having a collection tin on reception or the company matching your fundraising total.
6. Recruit your MST squad #squadgoals
Do you have some awesome friends who are prepared to give up their time instead of their cash? This could mean they could hold a cake sale and raise £100 rather than making a £20 donation.
7. Set your target
Pages with a target raise up to 50% more
Your friends and family will want to help you reach your goal. They may not be able to run with you, or want to shave their head, but by having a target they will be on the journey with you.
8. Let's keep it real (safe)
Planning events, collections and raffles often need a little bit more planning to make sure that everything is safe and sound. Don’t worry, we know what you need to do, so just give us a shout.
9. Let's break it down
Please don’t feel overwhelmed – every step in the right direction takes you towards your goal. Just keep it simple, give yourself lots of time and get a to-do list going…
10. You've got this
Remember why you’re fundraising for the MS Trust - the money you raise will make a massive difference for the people living with MS today.
