Desmopressin (Desmotabs)
Desmopressin is a drug used to treat bladder problems in MS. It is used in people who need to go to the toilet frequently during the night (known as nocturia). Learn more in this A-Z entry.

Fluoxetine (Prozac)
Fluoxetine is normally prescribed to treat depression. Exploratory studies have also looked at whether it might help reduce inflammation around nerves in MS.

Methotrexate (Maxtrex)
Methotrexate is an immunosuppressant drug used in the treatment of cancer, arthritis and psoriasis. It is not a first line treatment for multiple sclerosis, but research has shown that it can reduce relapse rates and slow progression in people with MS.

Dantrolene sodium (Dantrium)
Dantrolene sodium is a drug used to treat chronic, severe spasticity and spasms. It works by stopping electrical impulses within muscles, preventing contractions.

Homeopathy is a complementary system of medicine that was developed in Germany at the end of the eighteenth century. It employs the basic principle of 'let like cure like'. This is based on the theory that treating a person with a substance which produces the symptoms of an illness in a healthy person may help to cure the same symptoms in a person with an illness or condition.
