Event details

Take on the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales, and brace yourself for a demanding but rewarding challenge.

The National 3 Peaks Challenge takes in the dizzy heights of Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1,085m), where you will be able to enjoy some truly spectacular views.

You will be pushed out of your comfort zone as you trek around 26 miles and ascend to a total height of almost 3,000m during the challenge, but it is sure to be an experience you’ll never forget!

Take part on your own, or encourage friends, family or colleagues to join you to make this a team effort, and help us make a real difference for people with MS.

There is also an option to take part on a self-funding basis, where you would pay for the cost of your place (£95 reg fee + £460) and raise whatever you can in sponsorship. If you would prefer to take part on that basis, please contact us for more information.

Fundraising for the MS Trust

We understand that fundraising can sometimes be just as much of a challenge as the event itself, but our dedicated fundraising team will be there to support you every step of the way. We will be there to get you started with our brilliant fundraising pack and will be in regular contact with support, advice and ideas.

As a MS Trust fundraiser you will also receive a free MS Trust branded t-shirt for you to wear as you train and during the event itself.

We recommend that our fundraisers use Just Giving to collect sponsorship online. It is quick to set up and you can easily share your page with friends, family, and colleagues to reach your fundraising goals. Plus, everything is seamless. The money you raise, as well as Gift Aid, is sent straight to us as the MS Trust so that's one less thing to worry about! You can kickstart your fundraising on Just Giving here

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there alternative dates?

Yes, in 2024 the Three Peaks challenge will run on four dates with our partners at Charity Challenge: 12-14 July, 2-4 August, 30-1 September, and 4-6 October.

Alternatively, a Three Peaks trip will run with Global Adventure Challenges on 17-19 May, 26-28 July, and 6-8 September. This is very similar to the Charity Challenge trip with slightly different funding options. You can find out more about this trip here.

What if I don't reach my fundraising target?

We'll keep in touch in the run up to your event and so if it looks like you might need to give your fundraising an extra boost, or if you might need some more time after the challenge to reach your target, we'll be there to help. We can discuss different tips to boost your fundraising or even maybe help you to plan an event.

We set a minimum sponsorship amount as we have to pay the costs of your place from what you raise in advance of the challenge. You'll have to have raised 80% of your target 11 weeks before the challenge weekend and we know that it can sometimes be tough to raise this much so far before you've even set off. That's why we'll help get your fundraising going right from the moment you register. We'll never suddenly turn around and expect you to have raised the money.

When will I receive my t-shirt?

Once you've completed your registration, a member of our fundraising team will be in touch to welcome you to team MS Trust. They'll ask for your t-shirt size then and it will be sent out shortly afterwards. You can expect to receive your t-shirt within a couple of weeks of registering onto the challenge.

How fit do I need to be?

During the challenge you will be trekking for around 18 hours and covering over 28 miles of undulating terrain. This is over a full marathon distance, but with three mountains! The challenge will test you both physically and mentally, and ideally you would have some experience of hill walking in the UK and of completing prolonged periods of exercise. Don't be put off if you don't think this sounds like you right now as with some training it could be. We can provide you with training plans and tips to ensure that you're able to make the most out of your three peaks challenge.

If you have concerns about whether this is the right challenge for you, please do contact Charity Challenge directly as they will be able to discuss this further with you.

Are there alternative funding options?

There are two different funding options for this challenge.

1) The minimum sponsorship option where you will pay a £95 deposit to Charity Challenge when you book, and then raise a minimum of £935 for the MS Trust.

2) The self funding option where you will pay a £95 deposit to Charity Challenge when you book and then a balance £460 9 weeks before the challenge. You will then be free to raise as much for the MS Trust as you can without a minimum sponsorship target.

Can I take part if I have MS?

Many people with MS take part in our treks without any problems, but this is a physically demanding event so you do need to be generally fit and have a good level of mobility. We always suggest that you check with your doctor before signing up to the trip if you have MS or any other pre-existing medical condition. If this trip isn't for you, perhaps you might be interested in one of our other events such as Miles for MS or the Jurassic Coast Challenge.
