Anna began volunteering with the MS Trust in 2023. Here she talks about how she was able to use her professional skills to make a difference in the service of others.
It's been amazing to see how a well-crafted post or video can spark conversations and bring people together, especially when it comes to something as important as MS
Why was I keen to volunteer for the MS Trust?
I decided to start volunteering for the MS Trust primarily because I've got family members living with MS, so it's a cause that hits close to home. Seeing their challenges and victories firsthand gave me the motivation to give back to organisations who help them, like this one.
I am currently working in the world of AI recruitment for my full time job, as a Principal Consultant at Understanding Recruitment. The job is exciting, fast-paced, and all about connecting the right people with the right opportunities. But despite this business, I wanted to do more— something beyond the recruitment grind that could make a real difference. That's where the MS Trust came in.
I was initially unsure of where I could be useful within the MS Trust, but as part of my role, I build AI communities and create interesting content for my network. Therefore, I started creating content for the Trust, spreading awareness and sharing stories that matter. It's been amazing to see how a well-crafted post or video can spark conversations and bring people together, especially when it comes to something as important as MS.
I wanted to take things up a notch and push myself out of my comfort zone. I started with a London 10k, raising funds along the way. And now, I've got a Half Marathon lined up in Scotland this August. If you are interested in making a donation, you can click here.
To conclude, why do I volunteer?
It's about making a difference, one post, one run at a time. And if I can inspire even one person to join the fight against MS, then it's all been worth it!
