MS Nurse, Bola

Together with the North East London Foundation Trust, the MS Trust is delighted to announce the appointment and funding of a new specialist nurse to support the people living with MS in that area.

As part of the nationwide Specialist Nurse Programme, the MS Trust will be funding the new nurse for the 15 months of her role and will also be working with the wider MS team to really make a difference for people living with MS in Redbridge. We spoke to new MS Nurse Bola, to get her thoughts on her new role and the difference she is hoping to make.

I am delighted to be the new MS Clinical Nurse Specialist for Redbridge Community, working for the North East London Foundation Trust, MS Trust and CCGs.

There is a gap in the service for patients with MS in Redbridge and they have been longing to have a community Clinical Nurse Specialist for MS for a while. Hence, I am passionate to support and manage the complex and unpredictable symptoms of MS. I’m also pleased to be able to help people with MS gain access to treatments and promote the development of services for MS patients registered with Redbridge GPs.

My role is to coordinate services for patients with MS, to assess, advise and implement support, while optimising holistic and pro-active care. I’m keen to facilitate nurse-led clinics, home visits, as well as telephone consultations to promote self-management in MS.  As an independent non-medical prescriber, my interests and activities include supporting patients with treatments and monitoring MS symptoms. I also manage and liaise with Neurology Consultants and hospital-based Specialist Nurses about different drugs, DMTs and treatment options to support people with MS to lead a good life.
