Sew-cially distancing fundraising ideas!

MS Trust supporters, Anne (left) and Anna, have been sharing the creative ways they are raising money for the MS Trust, whilst socially distancing.
It has been fantastic to hear how the MS Trust community have been creative in their ways to support our work and continue to help those living with MS today, whilst socially-distancing.
Over a discussion on the MS Trust Community Facebook group, we discovered that MS Trust supporters Anne (from the North East) and Anna (from London) have been spending their time in lockdown creating beautiful face masks for friends in their area. We were even more thrilled to hear that they had made this into a great socially-distanced fundraising opportunity, exchanging the masks for donations to the MS Trust. They have each raised over £100 already!
Here, Anne and Anna (both passionate and talented sewers) share why they decided to get creative for the MS Trust…

I realised the charity will be losing lots of income during this crisis and wanted to help as much as possible
I started sewing the face masks to keep me busy during lockdown, as I saw an opportunity to do some socially- distanced fundraising and at the same time provide a ‘shopping mask’ at a reasonable price for friends and family. I realised the charity will be losing lots of income during this crisis and wanted to help as much as possible. Also sewing is very therapeutic and helps to chill me out during these worrying times." Anne

Initially I wasn’t going to sell them but a neighbour offered me some money for a set and I decided that I am going to donate this money to the MS Trust
"I wanted to do something during lockdown that would be helpful. As I’m social-distancing due to my MS, making masks at home from my big stash of fabric seemed like a good idea. Initially I wasn’t going to sell them but a neighbour offered me some money for a set and I decided that I am going to donate this money to the MS Trust. Word has spread and now I have a few orders to fulfill!" Anna

Healthy hobbies

Whether it’s picking up a paintbrush or baking a cake; digging out your old sewing machine or playing an instrument, taking up a new hobby, or rediscovering an old one, can help you retain a sense of self following an MS diagnosis. Here, five people with MS tell us about their respective passions.

Fundraising and events
Whether you fancy taking part in an event or doing something in your community, there are lots of ways you can fundraise for the MS Trust.
