In light of the ongoing situation and the significant reduction in income we are experiencing, the MS Trust has taken the difficult but necessary decision to place some staff on furlough temporarily, via the Government's Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, for the foreseeable future and with immediate effect.
We remain focused, however, on providing the best service we can for people affected by MS and supporting the health professionals who care for them. Our enquiry service, website and social media channels all remain active. We are also continuing to fundraise, primarily through our emergency appeal.
While we are unable to recruit into new sites through the Specialist Nurse Programme at the moment, we are continuing to support our existing sites as far as we can working remotely. We are also doing our best to continue the Advanced MS Champions pilot, ensuring that all the work put in so far at the different sites can be shared once the pilot is complete.
We have also taken the decision to postpone the MS Trust Conference from November 2020 to February 2021 (Sunday, 28 February - Tuesday, 2 March) to ensure participants and delegates are able to attend.
