Treatment finder
The majority of treatment for MS involves managing the individual symptoms.
Below are some of the more common drugs and treatments and the symptoms for which they can be used. If you have other conditions alongside your MS, there may be other treatment options for you that we do not have listed here.
Although there is no cure for multiple sclerosis as yet, there are a great many effective treatments for MS symptoms. If you have a relapsing form of MS, you have the opportunity to choose a disease modifying drug (DMD) to reduce the occurrence of relapses. However, people with all kinds of MS can receive treatment for the symptoms that they experience.
Depending on the symptom, management might involve medication, input from therapists and/or the development of self-management strategies. These three kinds of symptomatic treatment all have scientific support for the their use in MS, in specific situations.
This search tool lists some of the more common drugs and treatments and the symptoms for which they can be used.
To find out what treatments have been found to be effective for each symptom, you can click a box in the left hand column. This will narrow down the right hand list to treatments for that specific symptom, which you can then explore in more detail.
